Nourishd is an Australian meal prep and nutrition delivery service that has grown 162% since launch — entirely on custom software Pixel built from the ground up. Unlike most e-commerce businesses at this scale, Nourishd has never relied on Shopify or any off-the-shelf platform. Every feature, every workflow, and every integration is purpose-built for their business model — which means it works exactly the way they need it to, and scales without the ceiling that template-based platforms impose.
Problem
Nourishd came to Pixel at an early stage with a clear understanding that their subscription model was too complex for off-the-shelf tools. Meal customisation, delivery routing, pause and skip logic, variable billing cycles, and a nutritional content engine — none of it fit cleanly into a standard e-commerce platform.
The decision to go fully custom from the start has paid off. Every major operational change — new product lines, new pricing models, new fulfilment workflows — has been executed without the platform getting in the way.
Solution
We built and continue to maintain the entire Nourishd platform:
Storefront and subscription engine: Full subscription lifecycle — sign-up, customise, pause, skip, cancel. Billing logic that handles variable meal counts, delivery frequencies, and promotional pricing.
Custom admin panel: A purpose-built operations dashboard for the Nourishd team. Order management, customer accounts, delivery scheduling, nutritional content editing — all in one place, built around how their team actually works.
AI order assistant: An integrated AI assistant with the ability to generate new orders, process cancellations, and issue refunds — all within business logic guardrails. The assistant understands Nourishd's rules: what can be refunded and when, what triggers a replacement, what requires manual review.
Retention automation: When a customer initiates a cancellation, the platform identifies the exit signal and presents a tailored offer — a discount, a pause option, or a product swap — before the cancellation completes. The logic is configurable by the Nourishd team without a code change.
Result
Nourishd has grown 162% on the custom platform, with no plans to migrate to a third-party solution. The AI assistant handles a meaningful volume of order management tasks that previously required human intervention. The retention flows have measurably reduced churn.
The relationship is ongoing — Pixel continues to build new features, maintain infrastructure, and support the platform as Nourishd grows.
